W wyniku prowokacji NKWD w marcu 1945 L.Okulicki został zaproszony wraz z członkami Delegatury Rządu przez gen. Sierowa na pertraktacje polityczne. Wtedy został podstępnie aresztowany i razem z 15 innymi przywódcami AK i Pańtwa Podziemnego i wywieziony do Moskwy. Oskarżony w sfingowanym procesie, został skazany w słynnym procesie szesnastu na 10 lat więzienia.
L.Okulicki został bestialsko zamordowany przez rosjan w więzieniu na Łubiance w wigilię 1946. Cześć jego pamięci.
